About Wild Welsh Treehouses

Our Story…..

We run an organic hill farm keeping welsh black cows and welsh mountain sheep. The farm has been in the family for generations and is run by Sarah and Rhodri alongside Rhodri's parents, Simon and Monica, with occasional help from our three children, Elen, Ariana and Cai. We try to farm in a regenerative, sustainable way, maintaining a mosaic of different habitats to allow nature to thrive; which is why we're fortunate to see such a spectacular variety of wild animals on the farm.

We love the beauty of the wild Welsh countryside and love nature. We regularly see hares, skylarks, badgers ,owls and kites, and are even lucky enough to have the recently reintroduced pine marten living in the woodland. We try to be as environmentally sensitive as possible, generating our own electricity from a small hydro scheme on the river and we have planted over 8000 trees this year alone, creating wildlife corridors across the farm. We have also built two small lakes and regularly see otters playing and hunting in the shallows. We love the beauty, nature and fresh air of life on the farm and so wanted to create eco-sensitive treehouses and share this amazing place! Having a holiday away from modern life stresses gives guests a real chance to unwind.

Wildlife & The Environment

Mix of farm meadows, mixed woodland, ancient woodland and wild hill top. We see hares, foxes, badgers, stoats, polecats , and otters in the river and lake. We have lots of amazing birds; skylarks, yellow hammers, kites, barn owls, tawny owls and buzzards. Even the occasional peregrine falcon and hen harrier if you're lucky! Over the last couple of decades we've planted upwards of 70,000 trees on the farm, with another 6,500 having gone in this year alone, with the same again planned for next winter.

The farm generates energy from an on-site hydro scheme, and the lighting in Ty'r Onnen is solar whilst Ty'r Derw is powered entirely from renewable sources. The treehouses are built from locally sourced timber. Ty'r Onnen is insulated with sheep's wool, and Ty'r Drew with recycled plastic to ensure that they are as low impact on the environment as they can be.

Enjoy a peaceful break away from the stresses of every day life
